HAL RAMMEL
Hal Rammel has been designing and building musical instruments since 1976. As a composer and improviser based in southeastern Wisconsin he performs in the groups Audiotrope (with Steve Nelson-Raney and Thomas Gaudynski), Van’s Peppy Syncopators (with Terri Kapsalis and John Corbett), Whole or by the Slice (with Lou Mallozzi), and Raccoons (with Jon Mueller and Chris Rosenau). As an author , visual artist, and photographer, Hal Rammel’s work has appeared in the pages of the improvisor, Experimental Musical Instruments, Musical Traditions (England), Rubberneck (England), Salamandra (Spain), Cultural Correspondence, Analogon (Czechoslovakia), Nakna Lappar (Sweden), and Mannen På Gatan (Sweden). In addition to numerous recordings on Penumbra Music, he has released solo and ensemble music on Crouton and E.K.Records. More info on Hal Rammel can be found at his web site:http://www.halrammel.com
Hal Rammel is featured on Crouton No.’s 08 and 12 in the trio Raccoons, No. 9 as part of the first installment in the Folktales series, and on No. 34, his solo recording for ampified palette.
